This CREST/UN Environment forum is designed to showcase the importance of the UN’s declaration of 2017 as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development. This invitation-only, day-long event is taking place on World Tourism Day, September 27, 2017, at the UN Foundation in Washington, DC.
The CREST/UN Environment forum serves as both a recognition of the UN’s Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development and a thought-provoking discourse on the state of responsible travel at this crucial time in history. Accordingly, we have gathered together an all-star team of sustainable-travel thought leaders and practitioners, among them the august members of this event’s Honorary Host Committee.
The event features panels covering the five key areas identified by the UNWTO for this international year. Each one-hour panel will be moderated by a well-known journalist and include two presenters giving exemplary and inspiring case studies. In their 8-10 minute talks, presenters will show short videos of their work and will reflect on both their successes and challenges.
